Wednesday, April 30, 2008

SFA art students Shaun Roberts and Kira Enriquez received first place honors at SFA's Art Alliance Show in April.

The show, sponsored by the School of Art's student organization, invited undergraduate and graduate students to enter works in a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, art metal, jewelry, ceramics, prints, digital, photography and mixed media.

Undergraduate student Shaun Roberts received first place and best in show at the SFA Art Alliance Show for his painting 'Homeless.'
Graduate student Kira Enriquez received first place for her stoneware piece 'Communion.'

Roberts, an undergraduate student, received best in show and first place for his oil painting "Homeless." Enriquez, a graduate student, received first place for her stoneware piece "Communion."

The show, which ran April 7 - 11, provided SFA students an opportunity to enter a juried show, and enabled Art Alliance members to gain experience in presenting and installing an exhibition, said Jill Carrington, SFA associate professor of art history and the club's faculty advisor.

Other winners from the show included:

Ashley Whitson, second place for her acrylic on canvas graduate piece "The Snake Charmer;" Kent Land, third place for his acrylic graduate piece "Gun Tub on President Coolidge;" David Fortner, honorable mention for his ceramic graduate piece "Casserole Form I;" Angela Duncan, second place for his undergraduate digital inkjet piece "Number 6, from the series Inside;" and Margaret Pledger, third place for her stoneware undergraduate piece "Coil Built Vessel."
